The FOSS users have decided to form a club at Vidya Academy of Science & Technology to promote the use of FOSS.FOSS (Free and open source software) is software that is liberally licensed to grant the right of users to use, study, change, and improve its design through the availability of its source code. Free and open source software is an inclusive term which covers both free software and open source software which, despite describing similar development models, have differing cultures and philosophies.

  • National Service Scheme

Two units of NSS cell (Technical) are working in our college. The NSS unit provides opportunities to the staff and students to gain practical experience through community services. This unit also helps them to enhance their leadership and organising skills. The students who get 240 hours experience including one special camp programme will be eligible for NSS certificate and grace marks.

    • Green Club

    A 'GREEN CLUB' has been formed with the intention to popularize the use of bicycles amongst the staff and students of Vidya Academy of Science & Technology. Apart from helping to reduce pollution, it provides an excellent form of exercise, which is much needed in our present day life styles. Cycles are kept at various centres from wherein the members can draw, use and deposit them at their convenience. The intention of the club is to promote clean environment, health, spread the concept of good health and maximize the users. The membership fees is a meagre Rs 100/- for a year. The drive has been an unprecedented success.

    • Research & Development Cell

    As an important step for achieving excellence in Engineering education, Vidya Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) has established a Research Development and Consultancy Cell in the college. Consultancy work is being taken up utilizing the idle capacity of laboratories and other infrastructure. Extension work will be taken up in a big way to fulfill the social commitment of the institution.
    Students trained in VAST, through their active participation in research and consultancy will be exposed to field problems so that they will be more confident to take up challenging jobs in their career. Involvement in the developmental activities of the country will enable VAST to fulfil its social obligations. The transformation of VAST into a full-fledged Deemed Technological University would be made easier by the successful activities of the Research, Development and Consultancy Cell.

    • Vidya Student Support Cell (VSSC)

    Vidya Student Support Cell is a forum, initiated by the management, to provide additional academic as well as emotional support to needy students. The Cell coordinates and monitors the effective implementation of the 'group tutor system' whereby a group of twenty two students are put under the patronage of a faculty member designated as the 'group tutor'. Every group tutor interacts with the students under his/her care on a regular basis. The Cell is arranging training programs for the prospective as well as serving group tutors periodically. As part of the cell, a professional student counselor is serving the college to help students who are in need of support.

    • Energy Conservation Cell

    The college has an energy and environmental conservation cell with the aim of:

  • Making the staff & students aware of the need for energy conservation at our college, home and wherever they go.
  • Imparting technical knowledge to the neighbourhood in this direction.
  • Collaborating with similar organizations like ANERT, ECS etc. in projects.
  • Conducting small research projects for saving energy.
  • Imparting energy cum environment conscious image to the college.
    • Vidya Literary and Debating Club

    Education aims at attainment of perfection. And Technical Education should not turn a deaf ear to the literary bend of mind of individuals. Besides, with the global situation of today, professionals need must develop their linguistic skills as well, especially English. Vidya Literary and Debating club provides students with an opportunity to foster the inherent literary and linguistic skills.
