1. National Conference “NCRTAM‐2012” 

A National Conference on Recent trends in Advanced Mathematics “NCRTAM‐2012” was organized by the Dept. of Applied Sciences, VAST during 02‐04, February 2012 under the sponsorship  of  All  India  Council  for  Technical  Education,  New  Delhi.  It  included  09 invited lectures by experts from different parts of India in various areas of Mathematics. There  were  two  contributory  sessions  in  which  06  young  researchers  presented  their findings.  More  than  a  hundred  delegates  from  different  parts  of  Kerala,  Tamil  Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh participated in the conference.   

2. Two Day Workshop on MATLAB 
Thrissur  VAST  Student  Chapter  of  IE(I)  Computer  Science  &  Engineering  Division Organized a two day Workshop on MATLAB on 03, February 2012. Mr Dhanish Chandran (Assistant Professor Depart of ECE, IES College of Engineering) handled the session  
  • CADD Centre Thrissur, Thrissur gave an introduction to Autocad and Rivet for S6 CE students on 03, February 2012.  
  • Mr. Muhamed Safeer P K (Research Scholar IIT, Delhi) gave a talk for S6 CE students on 02, February 2012 under the banner of ISTE and IE. 
  • Staff Participation/ Achievements  
1. Dr V N Krishnachandran (Prof & Head, Department of Computer Applications) gave an invited talk on 02, February 2012, on Mathematics behind Google Search in the National  Conference  on  Recent  Trends  in  Advanced  Mathematics  (NCRTAM 2012) held  in  the  College  during  02  ‐  04  February  2012.  The  Conference was organized  by  the  Department  of  Applied  Sciences  of  the  College  and  is sponsored by All India Council of Technical Education.  
2. Dr.  Sasidharan  Sreedharan  (Professor,  EEE  Dept)  delivered  an  invited  talk  on  the topic  “Power  Electronics  in  Power  System  and  Controllers”  in  the  3  day  ISTE sponsored course held at Jyothi Engineering College, Thrissur on 02, February 2012.
3. Ms.  Akhila.  R  attended  a  3  day  ISTE  sponsored  course  on  Energy  Trends  in  Power Electronics  and  Systems  held  at  Jyothi  Engineering  College,  Thrissur  during  01‐03, February 2012. 
4. Mr. Suraj Damodharan and Mr. Nikhil. S (Asst Professors, EEE Dept) attended a one day National Workshop on “Managing Cost of Energy” held at Kozhikode organized by KSEB Engineers Association on 20, January 2012.

3. Mr.  Safir  Said  (S6  ME)  participated  in  Treasure  Hunt  in  connection  with PALMARIUS'12, the National Symposium organised by Sahrdaya College of Engg and Tech, Kodakara, Thrissur  on 13, January 2012.

1. Calicut University Yoga Championship 

College Yoga team women secured third position in the Calicut University Yoga Championship held at Royal College of Engineering & Technology, Akkikavu during 01‐02,  February  2012.  Ms.  Aswathy  M  Arun  (S4  ECE)  got  selected  to  represent  Calicut University Yoga team in the All India Inter University Yoga Championship to be held at Kurukshethra University, Punjab
