1. AION 2012 

AION 2012, the Science Fest for the first year B. Tech students was held in the college Auditorium  on  20,  January  2012.  Prof.  C.  Govindankutty  Menon  (Retd.  Professor  of Physics,  Sree  Kerala  Varma  College,  Thrissur)  was  the  Chief  Guest  who  delivered  a lecture  on  “what  ails  Indian  Science”  as  part  of  his  inaugural  address.  Dr.  S.P .Subramanian (Principal) presided over the function. Er. G. Mohanachandran (Executive Director – VICT) and Dr. P. Pratapachandran Nair (Professor Emeritus) felicitated. Earlier Prof. M. Mohandas (Prof & Head, Humanities) welcomed the gathering and Dr. Mannil 
Mohan  (Professor  –  Physics)  proposed  vote  of  thanks.  The  inaugural  session  was followed  by  various  competitions  like  Paper  Presentation, Poster  making,  science Quiz etc for the first year B.Tech Students.
2. Faculty Improvement Programme 
A one day Faculty Development Programme was conducted on 21, January 2012. Dr. R Sethumadhavan  (Program  Director  ‐  The  Science  and  Technology  Rural Entrepreneurship  Management  Project)  and  Dr.  John  K  Thekkedam/Swami  Sucheta Snehananda  Jyoti  (Clinical  Psychologist  and  Director  of  a  holistic  organization  ‐  East‐West  Awakening)  were  the  resource  persons.  40  members  of  faculty  attended  the programme. 
3. Legal Literacy classes by Kerala State Legal Services Authority
Adv.  Jose  Peter  and  Adv.  Eldon  (Kerala  State  Legal  Services  Authority  ‐  KSLSA)  took  a class on Legal literacy for the second year students on 20, January 2012. The programme was  organized  as  a part  of  the  anti‐ragging  campaign  initiated  by  KSLSA.   The programme  aimed  at  spreading  awareness  on legal  issues  relevant  to  the  students’ community in general. The programme was conducted for CE, PE and EEE branches. 
  • Staff Participation/ Achievements 
1. Ms.  Reji  .C.  Joy  (Assistant  Professor‐  Computer  Applications)  attended  a  two‐day workshop on MATLAB for image processing, organised by Dept of Computer Science, Prajyoti Niketan College, Pudukkad during 20 ‐ 21, January 2012. 
2. A paper titled "Preserving Privacy in Data Mining : A brief study" authored by Ms Jisha  Jose  Panackal (Assistant  Professor  of  Computer  Applications)  has  been accepted for presentation in the CSIR sponsored National Conference on Computing, Communication  and  Information  Systems  to  be  held  at  Sri  Krishna  College  of Engineering & Technology Coimbatore  during 10 – 11, February 2012. 
3. Ms.  Sunitha.  C  and  Ms.  Beena.  M.V  (Asst  Professors  –  Dept  of  CSE)  attended  a workshop  on  MATLAB  for  image  processing  held  during  20‐21,  January  2012  at  Prajyoti Niketan College, Pudukad. 
  • Students Participation/ Achievements 

Mr.  Akhil.  K.  Vijayakumar,  Final  Year  ME  Student  was  shortlisted  for  the  Youth Excellence Award 2012 instituted by Mar Baselious College of Engg and Technology, Trivandrum.    He  was  one  among  four  finalists  interviewed  at  Trivandrum  and  lost the title by a whisker.
