  • On 14th March 2012 the conference was inaugurated by the Chief guest Sri K G Gireesh Babu (CEO, Technopark , Thiruvananthapuram). Professor Dr. K Karunakaran (Vice-Chancellor, Anna University of technology, Coimbatore) was the special Guest of Honour in the inaugural ceremony.

1. National Conference on Computer Networks, Human Computer Interactions and Image Processing NCHIP ‘12

The second National Conference on Computer Networks , Human Computer Interactions and  Image processing  NCHIP ‘ 12 was organized jointly by the Department of Computer Applications and Department of Computer Science and Engineering  of Vidya Academy of Science and Technology during 14 – 15, March 2012, with technical co-sponsorship from the Computer Society of India and the Indian society for Technical Education.  On 14th March 2012 the conference was inaugurated by the Chief guest Sri K G Gireesh Babu (CEO, Technopark , Thiruvananthapuram).   Professor Dr. K  Karunakaran (Vice-Chancellor, Anna University of technology, Coimbatore) was the special Guest of Honour in the inaugural ceremony. On 14th March 2012, Dr. V N Krishnachandran gave a talk on Fractals and Image Processing. On 15th March 2012, Dr. V I Lajish, Head of Department of Computer Science, University of Calicut, Kerala delivered a talk on Soft Computing for Intelligent Systems and Dr. Kannan Balakrishnan, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Applications, CUSAT , Kochi gave a talk on Content Based Image Retrieval : Current Trends and Research Issues. There were four contributory sessions in which several young researchers presented their findings.

Ms. Anu Kuriakose (Asst Prof, Dept of EEE) presented a paper titled “ Single phase seven level inverter for PV Applications” in the International Conference ICRIT 2012 organised by RIT Kottayam.

1. Mr Krishnakumar T J (S4 CE) cleared Autodesk certification online examination- "Auto CAD 2012", with flying colours (88%), to become a qualified professional in Auto CAD.

2. Ms Saira Shaukath (S3 MCA - 2010 Admissions) secured the First Prize and a cash award of Rs. 4000/- in Talent Hunt competition in XENAYO 2012, a National Level IT Fest conducted on 08, March 2012 by Centre for Computer Science & Information Technology, Thalikkulam.
